- Yes. The eSIM adds an extra line for data; your main SIM keeps receiving SMS and calls as always. When you return from Portugal you just deactivate the eSIM line.
- iPhone XS or newer (except models sold in mainland China), Samsung Galaxy S20 or newer, every Google Pixel from the 3 onward, and most premium Android 2021+ devices. The phone must be carrier-unlocked.
- With the eSIM you have data for messaging and internet-calling apps (WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal). Calling local numbers with the +351 prefix using your original number with roaming or international calls can be more expensive; we always prefer voice-over-IP apps.
